First let me introduce what TABLEAU is? This I have taken from Wikipedia and Tableau software site. Tableau Software is an American computer software company having it’s headquarter in Seattle, Washington. It has produced a family of interactive data visualization products focused on business intelligence.
Tableau offers five main products: Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, Tableau Online, Tableau Reader and Tableau Public. Tableau Public and Tableau Reader are free to use, while both Tableau Server and Tableau Desktop come with a 14 day fully functional free trial period, after which the user must pay for the software. Tableau Desktop comes in both a Professional and a lower cost Personal edition. Tableau Online is available with an annual subscription for a single user, and scales to support thousands of users.
Let’s move on to problem which I have faced while creating a dashboard for my office project. In this project requirement was to swap two sheets based on a parameter selected. I was able to switch between sheets but worksheet’s title was creating problem, even dashboard title was not getting swapped with sheets. Then I found an alternative way to achieve this using calculated fields. I would like to give a name to this problem, we can call this as “Title swap as sheet swaps”.
To get this done, follow below steps one by one:
STEP 1: Created a calculated field for sheet1 with the text what I want as a heading:
STEP 2: Insert this calculated field “Title_P” in column at the first place and format this heading as you want:
This get inserted as a column, which will be seen as a heading.
STEP 3: Similarly do for sheet2:
STEP 4: Create the dashboard and put the filters for sheet swapping, we got rid of worksheet and dashboard’s titles. Here, column text will swap with sheets and will be shown as heading.
